Sponsored by Fairport Wealth FMA Advisory Founded in October of 2014, Steve Rudolph (pianist/composer and founder of the Central PA Friends of Jazz) & Bill Perbetsky (trumpeter and former band director at Susquehanna H.S.) co-lead the 16-piece ensemble. The players include the finest musicians from our area and beyond performing music from the historic big bands (Ellington/Basie/ Dorsey) to more modern bands (Buddy Rich, Thad Jones, Rob McConnell. Gordon Goodwin, Bob Mintzer) as well as original music and arrangements from members and friends. Originally named the River City Big Band, the HJC Big Band is happy to have the West Shore Theatre as our new venue for regular performances to go along with our new name. The Harrisburg Jazz Collective Big Band will be featuring guest artists with the band at our regular West Shore appearances and performing holiday concerts in December. 11:45AM – 1:15PM Wave Quartet - Wave plays a mix of smooth jazz, blues, & swing music, all done with their original twists – Dave Santana (drums) Rich Ranaglia (sax) Roger Harris (guitar) and John Christopher (bass)

1:30PM – 2 PM Fishing Creek Saxes - A group of twelve teen aged saxophonists from various high schools in our area playing original jazz arrangements for saxophone ensemble. Directed by Oliver Fairley

2:15PM-3PM Pop’s House Youth Jazz Ensemble - Harrisburg-based musical group focused on mentoring talented young musicians from across the region to study, perform, and grow through the power of jazz and R&B.

3:15PM – 5PM Jonathan Ragonese Trio - Head of West Chester University’s Jazz Department returns to Central PA to lead an adventurous trio featuring two young all-stars - drummer Justin Bowden & bassist Joel Austin.

The Central PA Friends of Jazz will begin hosting a monthly jam session at the VFW in April - (Sun 19th) - food and drink are available - there is a $5 cover charge (Over 18 years of age) ...Jeff Stabley (dr) Hassan J.J. Shakur (b) Steve Rudolph (p) will be the rhythm section for April 19th - all aspiring jazz musicians and professionals are welcome to sit in. Guitar players - please bring an amp, there will be a keyboard for pianists.

The Steve Rudolph Trio has had the pleasure of backing up some incredible guitarists from all over the U.S. at the Artisan Guitar Show's Friday Night Jazz event in Harrisburg for the last few years. This year's concert will feature bassist Tony Marino and drummer Larry Marshall (and me on piano), accompanying jazz guitarists Paul Asbell, Grant Gordy, Sean McGowan, and Steve Salerno, who will join the trio in different set configurations.

To conclude the evening this year Hendrik Meurkens, a world-renowned harmonica player, and local favorite guitarist Gavin Horning will join the Trio for the closing set!

SPECIAL TICKET OFFER: Friday Night Jazz is usually presented only for VIP ticket holders of the Artisan Guitar Show and is not open to the public.
